Bio
“I have spent the last 9 years in the Construction Management industry. Prior to that, I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. My diverse education and work history have allowed me to develop a core set of business skills that includes simultaneously managing multiple projects, solving complex problems, a commitment to project deadlines, actively listening to the concerns of project stakeholders, and developing creative solutions. I also take great pride in possessing leadership skills that allow me to impact the level of success of any team I am a part of by providing encouragement and support to my teammates.
I have always possessed a passion for cutting edge technology, and as a leader, I found that served me well. I have been able to bring to previous teams innovative solutions to make life more efficient and enjoyable. My passion for technology was focused into the world of development when I worked on the design team for a proprietary CRM tool. As the project progressed, I found my passion for development grew organically out of an intense curiosity of the ‘magic’ I was seeing on my screen.”
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: I came to Centriq Training because during my participation in the CRM project, I found that I was spending most of my personal time learning about coding. One day I heard an ad on the radio for Centriq and did some research to find out what all the hype was about. I found many glowing reviews online from former students. I talked with some folks actively working in the IT industry in KC and they all had the same thing to say, that Centriq was the place to go if you want to build some great fundamental skills. So I made the jump and have not looked back since!
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: I have a passion for front end development. I enjoy the creative freedom that it allows me to design a unique experience and visual brand for the user to consume. This is something that you definitely have to be willing to dedicate time and hard work to complete. The reason I like front end development so much is because it never seems like work.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: My ultimate career goal is to be a UI/UX designer. I think that I am well suited for this type of position because on one hand I am very passionate about helping others translate their ideas into a visual representation that they can be proud of showing their users. AND I also am dedicated to creating an experience that is meaningful and enjoyable for the user. Finally, I think that I can have a positive impact on the community at large by designing creative ways to meet and extend web accessibility standards.
Q: What other interests do you have?
A: I really love to create, so outside of coding I enjoy making art in many different forms. Watercolor painting, charcoal and pencil sketches, and graphic design are some of the things I enjoy. I also enjoy cooking French and German cuisine. When I am not creating, I am very passionate about empowering young girls to get involved in math and science in order to foster future generations of female innovators.
