Bio
“I’m an 18 year veteran of the US Air Force, where I held many different roles such as small team leaders, firstline supervisor and section manager. Most recently, I was a member of the Security Forces or Military Police Officer. I performed duties as a Police Officer and I provided security for Air Force resources. I protected the B-2 Bomber and all the associated resources. I left the Air Force as an E-7, which is labeled as a Master Sergeant. During my service I’ve had many leadership roles and responsibilities that focused on teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking. The thing I most enjoyed about the Air Force was the ability to lead a team and shape young troops into productive Airmen. My passion for technology comes from my father. When I was little he brought home our first computer, an Apple IIC, and from there I haven’t looked back. I’ve always been a hobbyist when it comes to computers. I enjoy the challenges and problems that they bring. The defining point on my drive to learn was when I decided to start building my own systems, and from that point it’s been a lot of trial and error.”
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: I chose Centriq to learn a new skill set that I’ve always been interested in but never had the opportunity to explore. Once I’ve completed the training I hope to expand my knowledge into the IT security field to take advantage of my Air Force security background. I currently hold an associate’s degree in criminal justice from the Community College of the Air Force and I am working towards my CompTIA A+, Security + and Microsoft MTA certifications.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: I was a natural in the A+ section because I have spent so much time building my own computers, but the entire IT networking portion has to be my favorite. I really enjoyed learning “how” and “why” networks talk to each other, and troubleshoot why they don’t.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: With my experience gained from the Air Force and my current training, I strive to enhance any environment I find myself in. I feel my integrity and ability to work in a team significantly increase productivity and cooperation in the workplace. I also enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. I would like the opportunity to continue to expand my IT knowledge and use my innate abilities to support your company.
Q: What other interests do you have?
A: Fun Fact: I enjoy making things! Last month I helped our local school by creating costumes for their winter choir program. In the past I have also helped the local youth theater program by making props and costumes.
