Country’s Longest Running Entry-Level Training Program Offers Both Coding and Networking.
ST. LOUIS (June 27, 2017) – Centriq Training, the Midwest’s largest information technology training company, is introducing their IT Career Training Program to St. Louis.
Established in 2005, Centriq’s IT Career Training Program is the longest running, most experienced entry-level technology training program, or boot camp, in the country. It is also the only one to offer students the option of learning either development (coding) or networking. Registration is now open for both four-month programs, with the first networking class starting on August 14 and the first coding class on September 11. Graduates of both programs will be ready to enter the job market by the end of 2017.
That’s great news for both the individuals seeking to break into the booming information technology field and the companies desperate to hire trained tech workers in St. Louis.
“St. Louis is one of the hottest technology markets in the country,” said Ted Parker, a partner at Centriq. “There’s a shortage of skilled technology workers here, which has led to St. Louis being among the top ten highest-paying markets for tech professionals. In fact, 64% of St. Louis Chief Information Officers say it’s challenging to find skilled IT professionals.”
And the demand for those trained workers isn’t going to end anytime soon. According to the 2016 State of St. Louis Workforce Report, more than 10,000 technology-related jobs are expected in the market over the next five years, with software developers, computer systems analysts, and network and computer systems administrators all among the top ten most in-demand jobs.
The Centriq name may be new to St. Louis, but it is well-known among IT professionals. Founded in 1989, Centriq Training is the Kansas City area’s largest information technology training company. In April, it acquired St. Louis-based Premier Knowledge Solutions (PKS), creating the largest IT training company in the Midwest.
“Because Centriq provides professional development training for the IT staffs of hundreds of companies each year, we truly know what skills companies need, so we are able to fine-tune what we teach,” said Parker. “Because we have excellent relationships with these companies, they share their job openings with us. Companies like to hire our graduates because they are prepared to hit the ground running from day one. And with the acquisition of PKS in St. Louis, we have added even more organizations to our already huge employer network.”
The Kansas City program currently graduates more than 300 students a year. More than 950 companies throughout the Midwest have hired Centriq graduates. That’s because Centriq’s curriculum and proprietary training methodology isn’t like other boot camps, according to Parker.
“Many boot camps across the country only teach coding, and they require a certain level of coding experience before you can enter them,” explained Parker. “At Centriq, we have developed a very focused, very hands-on program that takes students with little or no technology experience, and in just over four months, prepares them for a job in either coding or networking. Networking is in even greater demand than coding – the most in-demand positions are in network administration, database management, wireless networking and Microsoft Windows administration. And many of our graduates find their knowledge of cyber security makes them extremely valued.”
All of Centriq’s instructors are full-time and the program also provides career guidance with a dedicated staff, along with lifetime job placement support. Their services include career transition seminars, interview training, resume and cover letter development, LinkedIn best practices, customer service training and access to job postings.
“In just four months – not four years – graduates of our program gain not only the skills for a job with a great starting salary, but also for a career that offers the opportunity for future growth and tremendous personal satisfaction,” said Parker. “College simply isn’t right for everybody, and in the case of many technology jobs, a four-year degree isn’t required. What’s required are the right technical skills, and that’s exactly what you get at Centriq.”
