Bio
“After completing high school in Warrensburg, MO I started college at UCM. While attending school, I worked as a manager at the local McDonalds. I had a fantastic opportunity to train employees, juggle many priorities, and provide leadership. Although I was a Biology major, I took a few programming courses. In those classes I learned Python and some basic Web Applications. Even though I was learning the basics, I knew then that I wanted to be a developer.”
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: When taking programming classes at UCM, there wasn’t much of an opportunity for hands on work and one subject was a semester long class. At Centriq, their fast-paced program allows me to work hands on and what would have been a semester is now a week of intense coding. Computers have functioned as a lifelong subject of learning for me. Centriq is a formal extension of that learning as well as a rapid introduction into the workforce.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: C# has been my favorite subject matter by far. It is a language that is logical to me. I can read it from top to bottom and I enjoy the creativity that I am finding in how it functions. I have also been able to find shorter ways to complete some of the programming and discovering those has been fun. Creating working functionality to multiple types of interfaces using C# has proven to be exceedingly rewarding. Most of my experience has been in Web Applications, but I am currently working with desktop applications.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: I hope to work in a job where I have the opportunity to continue coding and learning with similar logic based technologies like C#, while also making a noticeable impact on company projects. Training new employees was my favorite aspect as a manager at my previous job, so an opportunity to teach what I know after developing more experience would be an added bonus. It makes me happy to help people be successful and I want to bring that with me into the IT career field.
Q: What other interests do you have?
A: Before Centriq I was a huge band geek. I have played clarinet for a little over 10 years and enjoy the creativity that comes with music. I also enjoy hanging out with my little brothers. Usually we are wrestling, playing baseball, or the occasional video game.
