Tell us about your journey into technology training.
I have lived in the KC area most of my adult life, but growing up we moved around every couple of years as my father was transferred from one Air Force base to another. Ended up in KC after attending UCM (was CMSU at the time). I am a newlywed. I married my husband, Jeff, in June 2020. I have one child, Austin, and two stepchildren: Rachel and Ryan. All the kids are out living on their own, so we have been empty-nesters for the last year and a half and enjoying it! I have one pet named Bella, who is a black and white tuxedo cat and a diva most of the time.
I became a Centriq employee back in 2006. My first position was the registrar. After several role changes through the years, my title is now the Operations Resource Lead. Prior to starting here, the AS400 was the only system I had any previous work experience. Since my first day, I have continued to grow and expand my knowledge by taking in-house classes. A couple of years ago I was part of the team that helped with the creation of our current enrollment system by offering feedback, making requests, and testing processes. As the company continues to evolve, I do as well, by learning how to work in new, ever-changing technology.
What’s your go-to Productivity trick?
When I need to really focus on something, I put in earphones and listen to music to block out any distractions.
What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success, and why?
I would attribute my success to being agreeable and open. I believe these traits have helped me to adjust and welcome change in my job roles.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy traveling with my husband and visiting new places both in the US and abroad. I like watching all genres of movies, and current top ten Netflix series. I am also a foodie and like to try new restaurants, especially when highly recommended by friends.
What’s a professional accomplishment you’re really proud of?
Earlier this year, I took the ITIL Foundation class and the certification exam. I was very excited to find out I received one of the highest scores ever seen by two different instructors.
What’s your favorite centriq memory or tradition?
One of my favorite traditions at Centriq is the company Halloween costume contest and pumpkin carving contest. Over the years, the costumes and pumpkins have been really creative, a little competitive, and super fun to participate in.
