How to Become a Front-End Developer – Centriq

A front-end developer’s main responsibility is to provide seamless user interface for websites. They’re in charge of handling anything related to what the user sees. Curious about how this role helps a company perform to its highest potential? We share everything you’ll need to know about becoming and being a front-end developer.

What Is a Front-End Developer?

A front-end developer works on one of the first things a customer interacts with: the company’s website. Having a good interface set up is important and developers play a core part in this. A front-end developer develops the site’s design and structure to enhance user experience. This means it is functional and optimized, looks great across different devices, and has reusable code for future designing.

How to Become a Front-End Developer

Many who go into this field have a bachelor’s degree in some kind of computer- or IT-related subject. However, it is possible to build the skills it takes to become a front-end developer with specialized, tech-focused classes.

Centriq offers a convenient and flexible 4-month program that focuses solely on technology. This program was created using training methodology specifically for those with little or no IT experience. We deliver hands-on training for coding and IT taught by experienced, real-world instructors that put you directly into a high-tech learning environment.

Front-End Developer Salary

The average salary for a front-end developer starts around $70,000 annually with junior front end developers earning less at around $50,000 annually.

As you can see, experience plays a big factor into salary, so taking the time to build more knowledge and develop your resume can lead to larger salary increases. You can quickly increase your salary by starting from a junior role and working your way up.

While having good soft skills is valuable, it is always a good idea to stay up to date with any type of additional education, training, or certifications. Remember to seek out new learning opportunities and stay updated with new training that may be valuable to what you do.

Front-End Developer Interview Questions

With the interview process, you can expect a series of questions that will be used to decide whether or not you’re a good candidate. You may be asked about your learning and problem-solving process as well as several coding and design related questions to get an idea of what you know. You may also be assessed on your knowledge and qualifications so expect to encounter scenario-based questions as well as in-depth, technical questions.

It’s a good idea to have some examples of past work ready to share since the job is all about presenting a user-friendly site to a visitor. This can be a major boost to your interview and really demonstrate why you’re a good fit for the job.

Front-End Developer Resume

When writing your resume, you will need to include all relevant experiences as well as education that makes you qualified for a role. It’s okay if your experiences don’t match exactly what the employer is looking for; the goal is to create a story that shows you have the transferable skills that would make you a good fit.

General skills that the resume should reflect include soft skills like creativity, problem-solving, and communication skills. Some important technical skills to include are coding languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, frameworks, and developer tools and software.

Front-End Developer Jobs

Companies depend on a well-built website to communicate with their customers. This means that front-end developer roles are available at a variety of companies across many industries. These are integral roles that help keep a company running which is why you can expect many options to choose from when you begin your job search.
