Bio
I live in Lee’s Summit with my husband of 16 years, our three kids who are 15, 13, and 11, and a spoiled, fat cat. Before attending Centriq, I was in early childhood education for 15 years and received my Masters in Teaching. I am very fortunate to have a strong support system in my immediate and extended family that have encouraged me as I step out to pursue a new career in technology.
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: I always enjoyed learning and implementing new technology in the classroom. I was the go-to person for co-workers, family and friends when they had problems with or needed help with their technology. When I couldn’t fix a problem or understand why it was happening, I would watch the tech guy or gal fix it, so I could do it myself next time. Ultimately, I decided a change to the field of technology would be a great fit for me. I had a few friends already in the tech field who recommended that I attend Centriq.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: I have really enjoyed all the classes. Each new week brings new and interesting instructors and information that we can add to what we previously learned. If I had to choose one, I would say the Windows Server Administration classes because I enjoyed creating and managing a Windows domain using Active Directory Domain Services.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: I plan to find a position where I can combine my experience and love for teaching with my new knowledge in technology. Most importantly, I just want to love what I am doing!
Q: What other hobbies and interests do you have?
A: I love all things Harry Potter! I am a Gryffindor, but Severus Snape is my favorite character. Reading is one of my favorite things to do in my spare time, but that is hard to come by. My three kids are on total of 8 different sports teams! The four seasons in our house are Football, Basketball, Baseball, and All-Star Cheerleading. I’m from a small town in Texas so I love small towns, simple living, and down to earth people. I’d love to retire in a small town in a tropical climate!
