Meet Richard Birdsong, our featured virtual cybersecurity student! Richard grew up in Kansas City with dreams of attending the Art Institute but took a
different path, serving in the Marines and Army National Guard instead. He has 15 years of experience in troubleshooting and repair across military service, cellphone repair, and software support. Despite building a strong career, he felt unfulfilled. He wanted to keep growing, challenge himself, and show his wife and son that it’s never too late to learn something new.
That’s when he took the leap and enrolled at Centriq, where he would be pushed yet supported in making a career change. Now, he’s diving into networking and is fascinated by how data moves across systems. His goal is to keep learning and to soon step into a cybersecurity analyst role.
