Featured Student: David Waye
Army Veteran and Systems Administrator Pursuing a Future in Cybersecurity
David Waye’s story is one of discipline, steady growth, and a clear drive to level up.
A former Army veteran turned systems administrator, David brings the same mission-focus he learned in military service into the world of IT. By day, he keeps critical systems running smoothly — troubleshooting, securing, and optimizing the infrastructure that keeps organizations moving.
David came to Centriq because he felt like his career had become stale and wanted to push deeper into cybersecurity. Security quickly became his favorite subject as he explored new ways to protect systems, identify vulnerabilities, and think proactively about defense strategies.
“I came to Centriq because I felt like I was getting stale in my career and in the position I was in,” David shared. “Security was my favorite subject. I’ve always wanted to further my career by being a security expert.”
At Centriq, David found the hands-on learning environment he was looking for. Through practical labs and real-world scenarios, he was able to sharpen his technical skills while building confidence in cybersecurity concepts that align with his long-term goals.
Outside of technology, David enjoys hitting the open road on his motorcycle, finding the same focus and clarity in riding that he once found in military service. More than anything, he values spending time with family — the people who continue to motivate and support him as he works toward the next stage of his career.
After Centriq, David plans to continue advancing his cybersecurity knowledge and pursue opportunities that allow him to specialize in security full time.
“I hope to become a cyber security expert.”
With his military background, technical experience, and commitment to continuous learning, David is well on his way to making that goal a reality.
We’re excited to watch David's journey unfold and can’t wait to see where his passion for technology takes him next.
Congratulations David!
