I am a father of 3 boys who eat everything. I’m also a supportive husband to a stay-at-home mom. Before coming to Centriq Training, I worked for Charter/Spectrum where I worked with both commercial and residential customers before going to work on the mainline. I am the head coach for my 6-year-old’s soccer team through Sporting KC.
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: I was working nights outside this past winter coming home seeing my family for a few hours before having to go to sleep to start the process all over again. One night I was getting all gear ready for the next morning. My son had come in and said Dad I have not seen you all week and I just wanted you to know that I love you. I put them to sleep and continued to get the rest of my gear together my wife came in and asked me what was wrong. I broke down and told her I could not keep doing this I wanted to spend time with my family without being tired and angry. She gave me the push I needed. I had spoken to Russ years ago and decided now was the time for me to pursue a career in IT.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: By far my favorite class was Windows System and Server Administration. I had two terrific instructors, Matt Schwarzenberger and Jim MacAuley. Both instructors made it fun and interesting to learn and included pop culture references when building an active directory.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: I would like to say I know exactly what I want to do but the fact is I don’t. There are so many different avenues you can travel down. I really enjoyed my work with servers and my goal is to acquire the Server+ certification from CompTIA. Eventually I would love to return to Centriq and become an Instructor or mentor to pass my knowledge on to the next generation of IT professionals.
Q: What other hobbies and interests do you have?
A: I am the biggest Chiefs fan to the point that I convinced my pastor to start service early so we would have time to get home and watch the games from the start. I am an avid Sporting KC fan. And most days throughout the week you’ll see me watching professional wrestling. I have an extreme Dr. Pepper addiction. I am in the 1% of people across the world that has never seen an episode of Game of Thrones.
