Laura Fornal

Bio
Before my time here at Centriq, I spent 4 years at Rockhurst University obtaining a bachelor’s degree. I have worked in various positions at eye care centers around Kansas City since graduating, but I have always been interested in technology. From building a gaming-centered computer to running a Windows-based web server and working with HTML to build a website featuring my artwork.
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: The unlimited options that are available in an IT career was the biggest reason for enrolling at Centriq. Since I have no formalized IT training, I needed to find a place that would provide a good foundation for making a big life change. Instead of pursuing training at a traditional college, I chose Centriq to get a faster start in this profession.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: Windows System Administration has been great and the most familiar for me in its layout from experience with other Windows applications. I have enjoyed every aspect of my training so far, from Net+ to PowerShell and understand their individual strengths as I begin to step into a new career. Although networking fundamentals has been the hardest part for me at Centriq, it has provided an exciting challenge.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: I will continue to work towards my goal to be hired as a junior cybersecurity administrator and want to continue working towards a CASP certification and eventually the CISSP certification.
Q: What other hobbies and interests do you have?
A: I love to paint/draw and have been part of several art gallery exhibits while at Rockhurst University. And if I don’t have a Star Wars novel in my hand, then I’m either chasing my three cats around the house or rocking out on my bass guitar.
