Bio
I was born and raised in Kansas City, and grew up dreaming of being a Video Game programmer, I would write out logic for different mechanics and theories for their implementation. I was a pretty nerdy kid! Once out of school; however, I decided to take a safer route, so I took my love for engineering and dove into the automotive world with the long-term goal of becoming a mechanical engineer. I worked as a parts delivery driver, a technology guru at Honda of Tiffany Springs, then as an assembly technician at the Harley Davidson factory in KC.
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: IT was really one of those “back to my roots” things. I started to feel like motorcycles and mechanics should just be a hobby, but I understood that to realize my full potential I had to throw myself into subject matter I was obsessed with, and video games and logic puzzles were what consumed my thoughts as a child. So I decided to chase my childhood dream. I came in to watch a class present their final projects. I realized almost immediately that I was still in love with programming and, as they say, the rest is history.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: C# is my favorite language, middle-tier programming makes me feel like a wizard, but I actually have to say that Team has been my favorite class. The different tools and methodologies we were shown have been indispensable; I loved talking about Agile. Heck I even started using Trello boards in my personal life!
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: My short-term goal is to learn Java and Angular, and my long-term goal is to get a Computer Science Degree. I hope I wind up using Java or C# in my first programming position. The dream is to someday create something that really helps people.
Q: What other hobbies and interests do you have?
A: I hope that I can work on Virtual Reality projects someday. I’ve watched a lot of videos on programming/math in 4-dimensions; that’s the kind of thing that keeps me awake at night! In the meantime, you can find me working on my Miata or Yamaha, reading, & playing video games.
