Deborah Reed
BIO
Hi everyone, I’m Deborah Reed. Most people call me Dee. I married my high school sweetheart twenty years ago and have grown with him ever since. Love of a challenge has given me a steady, yet eclectic work history. I spent close to ten years working with children, first in a daycare, and later as an aide in an elementary school. I think it’s important to be a good role model and keep a positive attitude. I’ve also run my own business as a traveling massage therapist. Most recently, I spent the last seven years with Nebraska Furniture Mart, a wonderful company. I started in sales and moved into merchandising, and I was even asked to move to Dallas to help open their new flagship store.
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: While I loved these jobs, none of them really felt like the career I was searching for. Then it was pointed out to me, in all these jobs, I was first, drawn to, and later, mastered the technologies available. Ultimately this is what brought me to Centriq, and it’s the best decision I ever made.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: Wow, that’s a tough one. It’s funny because, at the end of every week I come out of each class saying, “I think this is my new favorite subject.” I’ve genuinely enjoyed learning every level of the track. The creativity of the front end coupled with the logic of the back end just ticks all my boxes.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: After Centriq, I am ready to dive into my new career. My goal is to find a company that will allow me to continually grow and hone my skills. I might try to lean into Data, but ultimately I want to get out there and earn my stripes as a junior dev.
Q: What other hobbies and interests do you have?
A: I consider myself a typical nerd with all the classic tells. I’m an avid reader. I crochet, cosplay, and play D&D. My dogs are my world. Their names are Buffy and Faith, the chew toy slayers. I have loved teaching them agility and obedience and I actually enjoy the challenge of training other people’s pets as well. And finally, I am a writer. I’ve got a published short story online and I am working on my first novel.
