Joshua Harrison
BIO
My name is Joshua Harrison. I served in the United States Army as a Field Artillery soldier. I deployed to Iraq in 2008 in Babil Province, which is south of Baghdad. Ever since I can remember, I have had a strong curiosity towards technology. When I was a child, my Father introduced me to the computer languages Visual Basic and HTML, and I was hooked! I have since explored technology further and I love to expand my knowledge of the “how’s” and “why’s” applications behave the way they do.
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: After leaving the military service, I attended the University of Phoenix for two years, where I focused on Software Engineering and Information Technology courses. I took a pause from schooling to focus on my growing family. As I have aged my passion still burns, after hearing about Centriq’s Full Stack Web Development program, I decided it was time to hone in on my skills and make my work my passion.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: I am most attracted to UI/UX and making a design space flow well. To me as an internet user, the appearance of a product alone is enough to never use it. I enjoy making a product that is intuitive and user-friendly but looks stunning.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: Upon completion of the track I plan to obtain a position that will enable me to use my passion and skill set to further my knowledge of Object-Oriented-Programming and UI/UX design principals.
Q: What other hobbies and interests do you have?
A: When I am not coding, I am usually playing with my three beautiful daughters and two dogs. I also find the time to play drums and guitar. I love to make music!
