Elon Musk Says You Don’t Need A College Degree. Is He Right?
When asked what college degrees he looks for on a resume, Elon Musk— the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX— made it clear that skills and abilities come first. While he acknowledges that graduating from a prominent university can indicate that a candidate might be “capable of great things,” he says, “what I’m really looking for is evidence of exceptional ability. There’s no need even to have a college degree.”
Is Musk right? Is a college degree necessary for a successful career in tech?Read More

Passion and Profession: How to Get Paid Doing What You Love
We’ve all heard an inspirational career quote at some point in our lives, whether it’s “do what you love and you won’t work a day in your life,” or “if you can dream it, do it.” And while a solid Walt Disney quote can be good for the soul, it’s tough determining what’s clich and what’s valuable career advice.
It’s safe to assume that we’d all love to find a job that aligns with our passions, assuming you’ve already identified what those passions are. But what if you’re not sure what you actually love doing? It’s a fair concern – if you’ve spent years in a career that’s crushed your spirit, it’s easy to forget what you enjoy doing.
So, how do you start identifying your passions and turn them into a profession?Read More

Centriq Training Offers Youth Technology Summer Camp Like No-Other
Programming instructors will teach kids to build a website in just one week.
Leawood, KS. (July 11, 2016) – Geek Week at Centriq Training isn’t your typical summer camp! There won’t be the usual activities like swimming, hiking, camp fires and ghost stories. Instead, this youth technology summer camp will focus on Website Coding, Mobile Apps and Gaming Adventures. That’s why there is a waiting list for both the Middle School camp and the High School camp.
The high level of interest in Centriq’s inaugural Geek Week summer camps stems from the familiarity that Generation Z (the kids currently in Middle School and High School) has with technology. For this generation, the desire to write code, create websites and games, and develop mobile apps, is as natural as the desire to learn to read. This desire is what motivated Centriq to create Geek Week.Read More
