John Swift
BIO
Hello, my name is John Swift. Before taking the dive into technology I worked in government at a Parks and Recreation department and the insurance industry. I started out being self-taught while focusing on front-end development but decided to come to Centriq to expand my abilities.
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: This past summer I read a book about coding interviews that stated that false negatives (not hiring someone who would be a good developer) were acceptable as an industry-standard. I had a friend that had had success coming to Centriq. I decided there was no better time than now to take the plunge in and improve my skills.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: I really like the mid-tier. Whether is it C# while at Centriq or using javaScript as mid/back end, I enjoy using logic to problem solve.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A:I hope to find a position at a company that makes me happy to go in and see my co-workers (once properly vaccinated, of course). I gain energy from interacting with people around me and thrive when I can do that in a professional sense.
Q: What other hobbies and interests do you have?
A: I like meeting up with friends- it can be a board game night, a game of Dungeons & Dragons, or a night exploring Kansas City’s bars (all currently on hold due to pandemic).
