March's Featured TechSmart KC Student
“I was born in Alabama and have lived in Olathe, Kansas since I was 6 years old. I decided after high school that I wanted to attend The University of Kansas. As great as KU is and how much I enjoyed my time there, it just wasn’t the best fit for me. I decided to take a semester off to give myself time to think about what it is I actually wanted to do for a career. During this time off I discovered that over the years I had developed an interest for technology. This is what drew me to Centriq. ”
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: I chose Centriq because I could gain the knowledge and skills needed to have a successful IT career in as little as four months. I wanted to attend a place like Centriq where you didn’t have to take a bunch of general education classes, a place where I could get a more concentrated and focused learning experience. At Centriq, you get hands on experience and smaller classes that makes it easier for the instructors to help each student individually.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: I have enjoyed all of my classes. However, the IT administrator part 7 and 8 classes were my favorite. I got to put everything I learned from all previous classes into practice. I also enjoyed being able to present our project to other classes. It was very rewarding.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: After Centriq, I hope to be able to begin a successful career in the IT industry where I can continue to expand my knowledge and skills.
Q: What other interests do you have?
A: I really like sports. I used to play a lot of sports when I was younger but now I mostly just watch them on TV. I’m a big KU fan and the month of March is definitely one of my favorites because of March Madness. I also like to spend any vacation time in the summer with my family and friends at Table Rock Lake.
