“I’m a Kansas City, Missouri native, currently living in Overland Park with my wife, Kelsey, and my daughter, Patricia. It took me a while to find my “passion,” so for the last ten years I’ve held a basic data entry job. Because it was mind-numbing work, I created my own challenges outside of work by learning to be a professional fire spinner, practicing to be a nunchuck ninja, taking on the role of President of the Board for a not-for-profit organization, and doing freelance development using PHP and MySQL. When my previous employer laid off 20% of its work force, I decided to come to Centriq so that I could take a hobby I enjoyed and turn it into a rewarding and challenging career.”

Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: I researched a lot of different companies before making the choice to come to Centriq. The classroom environment and hands on instructors is what brought me here. Learning remotely limits a student’s ability to learn from the instructor, whereas having a classroom of peers that you can interact with and bounce ideas off of is invaluable.

Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: I pride myself on the statement, “The only things I cannot do are the things I have not yet decided to learn.” So my favorite subject is always the last one we just covered, as each new topic opens up so many more doors of possibilities.

Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: After Centriq I look forward to turning a hobby into a rewarding career that presents me with new challenges daily, and that helps me to provide a much better life for my family.

Q: What other interests do you have?
A: Have you ever been to the Renaissance Festival and seen a guy breathing a 15-foot tower of fire? That was probably me. My wife and I perform as “Tricks of the Light” at festivals, parties, and weddings. It doesn’t pay enough to cover the bills, but nothing beats the excitement of entertaining hundreds of people with crazy fire antics!
